Dr. Jitendra Nath Misra

I have great pleasure in conveying my warmest greetings to the Portuguese Yoga Confederation and to Jagat Guru Amrta Súryánanda Mahá Rája on International Day of Yoga, being celebrated on June 21-22, 2014. Yoga is one of the most recognizable representations of India’s ancient heritage. As India’s gift to the world, Yoga creates peace within oneself, harmony with the surroundings and understanding with the wider community. Yoga provides effective treatment for a range of ailments, without the intervention of medicines and their toxic after effects. Yoga is a means to fulfillment of the precious human life embodied in all of us.

Under the leadership of Jagat Guru Amrta Súryánanda Mahá Rája, the Portuguese Yoga Confederation has done stellar work in the promotion of Yoga in Portugal and beyond. With twenty seven centres in Portugal alone, it has a wide network of followers and admirers, deeply committed to the spread of Yoga. It has a strong association with its counterparts in India and the rest of the world.

The Portuguese Yoga Confederation is an ambassador of peace and goodwill for India. It is therefore a matter of pride for the Embassy of India to be associated with the Portuguese Yoga Confederation in promoting our common goal of creating a better understanding of India in Portugal, I congratulate Jagat Guru Amrta Súryánanda Mahá Rája, his dedicated colleagues and all followers of Yoga in Portugal on International Day of Yoga.

Your Excellency Dr. Jitendra Nath Misra, Ambassador of India in Portugal
